Ancestry at the library
My local library, like some others, offers access to Ancestry when you’re in the building. This is “Ancestry Institution™” which is free and very useful.
I tried it today for the first time, and I like it. Pop in for an hour, do a bit of research, and get out.
The way it works is:
- Login to library computer with your library card number and password.
- Go to the family history page on the library web site.
- Click on the Ancestry link and you have access to a bunch of records.
It’s not everything Ancestry can do, but it’s good for my needs. I found a relative serving on a boat (ship?) in the navy shovelling coal.
