Ancestry at the library

My local library, like some others, offers access to Ancestry when you’re in the building. This is “Ancestry Institution™” which is free and very useful.

I tried it today for the first time, and I like it. Pop in for an hour, do a bit of research, and get out. 

The way it works is:

  1. Login to library computer with your library card number and password.
  2. Go to the family history page on the library web site.
  3. Click on the Ancestry link and you have access to a bunch of records.

It’s not everything Ancestry can do, but it’s good for my needs. I found a relative serving on a boat (ship?) in the navy shovelling coal.

The only problem I had was figuring out how to logout:
