Cell biology by the numbers
I know a lot of things are going on in our bodies all the time, but I’ve no sense for what the timescales are. For example, how long does it take for a gene to be transcribed (into mRNA) or translated (from mRNA in to a protein)?
It’s about 30 minutes. I now know this thanks to the remarkable resource that is Cell Biology by the Numbers.
Before I forget, there are animations from WEHI of some of this. Watch from 3:22 and you’ll soon see a gene transcription at real-time speed.
