Haircap moss
Walking in The Black Mountain in Wales, I looked down. There’s so much colour and many kinds of creepy-crawlies.
Jane had her magnifying lens with her, and I was taken with, what I now know as, the moss.
I’ll have to check next time I’m in our local park, but I suspect the diversity growing there is tiny in comparison. Grass, planted flowers, some cow parsley, and I don’t know what else. But I doubt I’ll see common haircap moss.
This reminders me. Walks around these areas are possible for me thanks to the Ordinance Survey. I’ve recently started using their 3D projections of their classic maps, and they are a joy, brining the landscape to life.
