Hello, Autumn
I'm officially late in welcoming in autumn, but in my defence it now feels like autumn.
We spent a few days in the Chilterns. It's not a part of the country I know at all, and now getting back and looking at a map I see we were in one tiny part of it, near Henley-on-Thames.
We lucked out with blue skies and beautiful trees dumping leaves, so that will bias us to return again.

Plus, we found a lovely cabin in the woods to stay in. And although we were there for Halloween, I resisted Shearsmith & Ince's "handpicked list of the ultimate creepy films, perfect for watching late at night... in a forest" (Patreon link). It was creepy enough, thank you, stepping out into the darkness of the woods: the sound of owls and the unidentified rustling of something.
The area is home to so many Red Kites (the bird) that I started to take them for granted after a day. They are stunning, with a cry that is somewhere between a shepherd calling a sheepdog and a Middle Eastern wind instrument.
A couple of photos won't do the area justice. Best to use your eyes when you're there.
