My blogging workflow (2025)

What I do is:
  1. Open my email client, write the post, add #tags, images, links.
  2. Run proofreading tools.
  3. Send it to my https://pagecord.com/ email address.
That's it.

(Ok, sometimes I use the web editor too.)

Before this, I spent years using a static site generator, but found I stopped blogging. It was a little bit of a hassle to write a markdown file, but more importantly I didn't enjoy it.

I tried Pika, and the simplicity started me blogging again (sorry). But using a service like this was nagging at me: what if they go another direction? Sure I can export, but I'd need to find another way to blog.

Pagecord has two big attractions. One is rediscovering blogging by email, but a bigger win is the source availability. I have run Pagecord locally to kick the tires, and although I have zero interest in hosting it myself, it's a huge reassurance to know I can. (And you never know, maybe one day I'll have an itch to scratch, and the source is there.)

Olly has been super helpful importing my old blog, and I love that it's hosted in Europe and made in Scotland. It does what I need, very nicely.

Pagecord is now where I call (blogging) home.
